Privacy, simply explained.

BestPriceHK does not require an account, collect payment details, or include advertising trackers in the application.

When you search

Your search terms are sent to our server and then to Wellcome, Best Mart 360°, HKTVmall, city’super, Market Place, Marks & Spencer, SOGO Freshmart, YATA to retrieve listings. Search results are cached in temporary server memory and can be reused for up to five minutes. Please search for products without including personal information.

When you search by photo

Barcode scanning and label reading happen on your device. Your photo is not uploaded to BestPriceHK, a recognition provider, or a retailer. The application does not save photos in browser storage or a database, and releases the preview when you close the dialog. The browser may cache the reader files and store downloaded language data in IndexedDB; clearing this site’s browser data removes those cached language files.

For barcode lookups, only the barcode number is sent through our server to Open Food Facts. Product details are temporarily cached for up to six hours; a missing barcode is cached for ten minutes. The product name you confirm is sent to retailers like an ordinary text search. Photos and unconfirmed OCR text are not sent with that search.

Links and browser history

Your current search and selected interface language are included in the page address, so you can bookmark or share a search. Someone you share that link with can see the search term.

Your shopping list

Items you save without signing in stay in this browser’s local storage. They include the product name, search term and, when available, the retailer’s image address. Remove items in My list, or clear this site’s browser data to remove the whole local list. Prices are looked up again when you select a saved item; the list does not store historical prices.

Your saved carts

Saved carts contain the products and quantities you choose, their retailers and sellers, and the prices seen when you added them. If you mark a cart as bought, it also contains the purchase date and total you enter. These are your own records, not retailer order confirmations. Guest carts stay in this browser. Delete them in Saved carts or clear this site’s browser data. We do not collect card details.

Technical information

Our hosting provider, Vercel, processes technical request information to deliver and secure the service. The application temporarily uses an IP address to limit excessive search requests. Hosting access logs may include page addresses, IP addresses and request times; their retention is controlled by the hosting configuration.

Retailer websites and images

Product images load from retailer image servers, which receive normal browser request information. Following a store link takes you to that retailer’s website, where its privacy practices apply.
